LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - It was a tale of two halves, as Agnes Scott struggled throughout the first half, before rallying in the second half for a respectable, 55-42, loss to Covenant (6-16, 5-8 Collegiate Conference of the South).
The first half of play saw the Scotties struggle offensively throughout, as they finished 3-for25 from the field for 12% shooting. They were also 0-for-11 from three-point range in the opening half. The lone shining spot offensively in the first half was freshman forward
Cybele Forbes, who scored the first 5 points of the game for the Scotties. The teams would head to the locker room at the half with the Scots leading, 30-9.
The second half was a complete turnaround for the Scotties (2-18, 1-11 CCS), as they outscored Covenant, 33-25, for the final margin. Forbes was the hot hand for the Scotties throughout, scoring 18 points and adding 4 blocks and 4 rebounds.
Anissa Brailsford pitched in with 8 points and 6 rebounds, with all of her points coming in the second half. Freshman reserve
Ava Hendrie was an efficient 3-for-4 on the night from the field, finishing with 7 points, 4 rebounds and a team-high 3 steals.
Jonah Wood and
Kaycie Hyde also swiped the ball from the Scots three times apiece.
The Scotties continue to show improvement on the season, having dropped a 62-29 decision to the Scots when they faced off on January 13. The Scotties will return to the road on Tuesday, February 10 as they travel to Wesleyan (0-18, 0-11 CCS) as they look to make it 10 straight against their Georgia rival. The last time Wesleyan was able to down the Scotties was January 20, 2021.
